Shush! No Talking In the Library!

If you google canning books, the lists can become overwhelming.  Don't be.

My Food Preservation Bible is Putting Food By.

Why do I call it so?  Because the recipes are easy to understand, and it covers more than canning.  It covers freezing, drying, AND canning.

I also own several copies the Ball Blue Book

Most of the recipes include illustrations.  I especially appreciated the sketches of how to blanch tomatoes when I was learning.

Another popular & informative book is the Better Homes & Gardens Canning and Preserving Recipes.

And finally, ask you family members for their favorite recipes.  An Oklahoma favorite is Sand Plum Jelly.  In the North East, Red Currant Jelly is a lusted favorite.  Other regional recipes you find may include rhubarb, oriental squash, or grape pie.  Just ask!  Most canners are more than happy to share their heavenly deliciousness on a recipe card.

There are many more canning books out there.  These are the ones that I can vouch for being comprehensive and handy.
